COVID 19 Update – August 17, 2020

August 17th, 2020

Dear Valued Customer,

As we navigate through this COVID-19 business environment, we wanted to share a few things with you. PMC continues to find new ways to address productivity and create inventive product solutions. We are also hearing directly how our customers are using this time to evaluate new opportunities and markets. Some of these opportunities include:

  • Participating in development of personal protective equipment (masks, gloves, etc.)
  • Evaluating unique packaging concepts including straight wall and non-round options
  • Increased focus on improving food quality, reducing waste and sustainable practices

Paper Machinery Corporations efforts include the following:

Operations
We are in full operation with a combined approach that includes remote working, and three shifts of staffing at our headquarters. The City of Milwaukee and the State of Wisconsin implemented a mandate requiring everyone wear a facemask in an enclosed area outside of their personal home or living space. To comply with this mandate, all employees and visitors at PMC must wear a mask in common areas. We continue to practice physical “social” distancing, offer convenient hand sanitizer stations, and have increased cleaning of all high contact areas.

Customer Support
Our Service Department is hearing from numerous customers that have chosen this time to focus on machine repairs, tooling updates and maintenance. We are directing resources to accommodate these requests and after the first month with the new remote service policy changes, the feedback has been positive. Customers have increased efficiency in their requests, i.e. have machine information readily available, which is leading to a quicker turnaround in finding solutions.

PMC Service Technicians have started traveling to customer locations in the United States. Strict guidelines have been put in place and we have worked closely with customers to ensure we are following customer and government COVID guidelines.

As always, we will work hard to warrant your trust and loyalty. We are here to help you prepare for continued success, both now and in the post-coronavirus business climate. If there is a way that we can be of further service to your organization, please contact us at sales@papermc.com.

Thank you,

Paper Machinery Corporation

COVID 19 Update – June 10, 2020

June 12th, 2020

Dear Valued Customer,

It has been an interesting 2020 to say the least. As we enter the halfway point of the year, we hope that this third installment of the Paper Machinery Corporation COVID-19 update finds you well. Daily operations continue progressing at PMC. We have implemented a mandatory temperature screening for all employees and visitors when they arrive on-site. We are also asking individuals to stay home if they have come in contact with someone that either has tested positive or is showing any initial symptoms. Throughout the state of Wisconsin, the “Safer at Home” order has been lifted. A majority of the local businesses are operational and are running with physical distancing guidelines in place.

Customer Support

As travel restrictions begin to ease, we are discussing potential Sales and Service Department visits with domestic customers. Processes are being put into place to allow visitors to PMC while ensuring that everyone’s safety is a top priority. Currently, there are still travel bans for international travel, which we will continue to monitor.

Operations and Engineering

In addition to temperature screening, we continue to practice social distancing and clean all high contact surfaces. For the last six weeks, many of the Operations office staff have been working remotely. By July 1, the intent is that the staff will increase their time in the office.

The Engineering Department has used this time to better prepare for new tool sets by increasing our 3D model database. We were also able to evaluate and improve our current business processes while establishing that Engineering can work remotely and still be productive. This will be helpful in the event that we may have a temporary COVID-19 closure or if employees are unable to come into the office for other reasons.

It is encouraging to see the progress that is being made and the creative solutions that businesses are implementing to facilitate customer safety. As PMC begins to consider traveling again, as well as hosting you at our headquarters in Milwaukee, WI, you can be sure that we will take all necessary precautions. If you have any suggestions regarding safer operating practices, please send us an email at sales@papermc.com.

Thank you once again for your continued support. We look forward to seeing you again soon.

COVID 19 Update – May 5, 2020

May 6th, 2020

Dear Valued Customer,

It has been two weeks since our last update on how Paper Machinery Corporation is adjusting to a world impacted by COVID-19. We appreciate those of you who have shared the adjustments you are making to daily operations. In the USA, many states are beginning to relax their quarantine guidelines. Locally, the State of Wisconsin has extended the “Safer at Home” order until May 26, requiring individuals who do not fall under Essential Operations to stay at home in order to help limit the spread of the virus. Discussions are now taking place regarding a phased-in approach to reopening, and some nonessential businesses have already been granted permission to open.

Customer Support

Our customers have the responsibility of getting the world’s food supply packaged and delivered, making it imperative that we, as a supplier, are available to keep their equipment operating. PMC’s Customer Service group continues to provide remote support and is offering video support calls and installations. For companies experiencing a reduction of activity, this may be an opportune time to address delayed machine maintenance and/or pending repairs via our remote support. The PMC Sales department continues to conduct remote Factory Authorized Testing (FAT’s) in order to meet delivery timelines while alleviating the need for unnecessary travel during this novel coronavirus period.

Manufacturing

To comply with state and federal guidelines, PMC Technicians have not been traveling to customer locations for service calls. This has allowed us to focus additional resources on machine assembly and testing and in some cases improve delivery schedules.

As the world begins to gradually come back online, we know that there is still a long road ahead. Yet in this uncertain time we are discovering new and better ways to deliver a best-in-class experience as the world’s leading source of forming machines for paperboard cups, containers, and custom packages.

As a valued customer, we would love to hear from you. We invite you to send us an email at sales@papermc.com to give us an update on your business and if there are ways we can be of better service to you. Thank you for your continued support.

We wish you health and safety.

COVID 19 Update – April 13, 2020

April 13th, 2020

Dear Valued Customer,

We hope this finds you and your colleagues healthy and well during these unprecedented times. As the world adjusts to what some are considering the “new normal” we wanted to take this time to inform you that business is operating more-or-less as usual at Paper Machinery Corporation. While a few adjustments have been required to comply with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendations, our operations are benefitting from these changes.

Some of the adjustments that we have made while still maintaining PMC quality include:

  • To address the domestic and international travel ban, PMC Service has been hosting service conference calls to help support machine start-ups, tooling changes and other outstanding items, as well as providing step-by-step setup instructional guidance.
  • With a required ban on visitors to PMC, we have also been conducting remote Machine Acceptances / Factory Authorized Testing (FAT). The remote FAT process includes shipping final samples to the customer for approval. PMC Sales will conduct the FAT requirements and share a final Test Run Data Sheet for customer approval. PMC is also prepared for video FAT as needed.
  • Departments have been rotating shifts and working remotely via virtual meetings to minimize PMC employees on-site.

As we know, the situation with COVID-19 is extremely fluid and can change daily. We have been fortunate to not have any employees test positive. As of today, it is business as usual at PMC. In an effort to keep you as best informed as possible, we will look to send another update any time new information is available.

We thank you for your continued commitment to PMC and would appreciate learning how you and your company are maintaining productivity during these trying times. Send us a note to sales@papermc.com. We look forward to hearing from you.

All the best!
